Ellie Greenwich
died of a heart attack in New-York on 26 August aged 68. She sang the
backing vocals on the ELO's album "Face The Music" in 1975. She
was a famous songwriter ("Be
My Baby", "Da Doo Ron Ron", "River Deep Mountain High", "Leader Of The
Pack"...) and had her
own solo career as a singer. She had work with Phil
Spector, Jeff Barry or Neil Diamond among
others.

is set to be released. The
original Beatles reunion version from 1995 was embellished with
numerous sessions over the last 2 years by Paul McCartney. Selected for "Anthology",
it was attempted with Jeff Lynne doing some clean up of the
original John Lennon demo and the remaining Beatles doing some basic
work on the track. Unfortunately, the work was eventually aborted...
until now.

George Harrison songs are all the set to release after Jeff
Lynne reportedly agreed to complete them (maybe with the help of Dhani
Harrison). This
is all purely speculative at this point. That rumor comes from an
article from the Daily Express based on a recent
interview of Olivia Harrison. George Harrison's widow simply declared:
"George half-finished loads of songs and often just forgot about them.
There is probably an album's worth of material. There are lots of
tracks. Some are closer to completion than others and with those I'd
ask for help."
Nothing more, nothing less. So,

Pete Allison has passed away on 31 May. He was the bass player and the
founder member of the ELO tribute band The
ELO Experience. However, the band decided to continue. Here
is a radio interview given by Pete Allison and the drummer Tony Lawson
in March 2009 (thanks to Nick Barker for the audio).

Sun Flower Orchestra are a Polish band who recorded an ELO tribute
album in 2003 (downloadable here). They regularly perform in a
Jeff
Lynne
and Electric Light Orchestra fan meeting in Poland. The band have now got
a website.

The Sunday Mercury is leading a campaignto get Roy Wood immortalised
with a star on the Birmingham Walk Of Stars. The British newspaper
wants to pay him a tribute for his
contribution to music as
one of the Move, ELO, Wizzard and Wizzo Band former members
as well as his solo career.

Kelly Groucutt released a solo album with
fellow
ELO members Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Mik Kaminski and their
orchestral co-arranger and conductor Louis Clark. Sold out until
now, the CD is reissued in remastered version with bonus tracks and an illustrated 16-page colour booklet with
exclusive photos plus sleeve notes by Kelly Groucutt. It's an exclusive limited edition
release therefore not available in shops. You can order it on his official

A special evening
celebrating the life and music of Kelly Groucutt was
done on 11 May at the Robin 2 in
Wolverhampton, UK. The Orchestra, family, friends and fans paid a
tribute to the former ELO bass
player dead of a heart attack aged 63 on 19 February. Une soirée
spéciale célébrant la vie et la
musique de Kelly groucutt a été donnée

Bill Hunt was briefly the keyboard and French horn player in The Move
and ELO before joining Roy Wood's
Wizzard. His son Will is involved in an electro-pop duo called Dansette
Junior.

now official. The compilation that
will be released on 16 June contains some
songs to which Jeff Lynne
collaborated: "Got
My Mind Set On You", "Any Road", "This Is Love", "When We Was Fab",
"Rising Sun" and "Cheer Down". All the songs were remastered.
