Raymond
Froggatt is a British songwriter and singer born in
Birmingham. The
former ELO conductor Louis Clark played the bass in his band in the
60's.
He
had the same manager as ELO (Don Arden) and toured several
times with
them in the 70's. In
his song "Birmingham Rain", he
paid a tribute to the artists native of his home town. He quotes Jeff
Lynne,
Bev Bevan, Roy Wood and many others... For your information, The Move,
ELO
and Wizzard former
member Bill Hunt is on
keyboards.

Here is an
advert published in
the American magazine "Variety" on 11 May
1977.
It's for a never-made movie called "Devil's Riff" and featuring a
soundtrack by Electric Light Orchestra. It was expected for summer
1978. It seems it was a musical movie because the team is the one who
worked on "Yellow Submarine" and "Godspell". I don't have any more
information about this odd project... (Thanks to
the fan Robert Newsome for the picture on Flickr). Voici une

According to a source
working in the music industry in Los Angeles, the new solo album of
Jeff
Lynne should be released in May/June 2010. It is confirmed that he
plays
most of the instruments except for a few guests. He is said to have
worked with Marc Mann
(already credited on "Zoom" in 2001). However, ELO former keyboard
player Richard Tandy might not play on the album. Jeff
Lynne is now picking an artwork and it should contain
the words "Blue", "Earth" and "Satellite"...
D'après une

le nouvel album solo de Jeff Lynne sortirait en mai/juin 2010. Elle

A
Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra fan meeting took place in
Brwinón (Poland)
from 12 to 13 February. About
80 people gathered for the event. Some fans from
the Czech Republic and Germany couldn't come because of the bad
weather. So a new meeting should be organized next summer...

DOUG FIEGER - 1952-2010
Doug
Fieger,
the lead singer and guitarist of the American band The Knack (known for
the hit "My Sharona" in 1979), died of a
cancer aged 57 on 14 February in Los Angeles. He was a friend of Jeff
Lynne. They both worked on the album "Time Takes Time" by Ringo
Starr in 1992 and they sang "With A Little Help From My
Friend" with him on
stage in 2005 (photo). Jeff Lynne was close to him and his family until
the end.

Fieger,

DEL SHANNON - COMPILATION
A new compilation of Del
Shannon was released on 26 January. "Runaway - The Very Best Of"
contains the hard to find "Cry Baby Cry" (co-written by Jeff Lynne in
1975)
and "Walk Away" (co-written and produced by Jeff Lynne in
1989).
It also contains the original versions of "Runaway" and "Little Town
Flirt" later covered by Jeff Lynne.

MusiCares" with his friend Joe Walsh on 29 January.
This charity event

intended to help musicians in need. The
party was a tribute to Neil Young and took place at the Los Angeles
Convention Center.
