Steve Maher recently passed away.
He was the leader of the British band Tinkerbells
Fairydust. Jeff Lynne spent a few weeks
there at
the beginning of his career in the 60's (he played
in "Sheila's Back In Town" and the song "Follow Me
Follow" was first composed for
this band before being recorded by the
Idle Race). Steve

Dave Edmunds gave a surprising interview to the Ultimate Classic Rock website.
About his work with Jeff Lynne as a producer, he declares:
"Now looking back, I'm not sure why I was quite as enamored with Jeff
Lynne although he is tremendously talented in the studio. Sometimes, I
listen back to some ELO records that impressed me back then and they
seem a bit dated now. A bit too contrived."..."I only did it because I
wanted to see what it was like to work with a producer and not be
producing myself and see what would come of it and what the experience
would be like. Well, he took over when he [produces something], he does
all of the backing tracks and he got me playing a lot as well. In a
way, I kind of regret that whole thing. I liked the first two tracks -
we did another three or four tracks after that and we
shouldn’t
have done that we should have left it where it was."

Don Fields from the Xanadu
Preservation Society website posted a rare video on
his Youtube account. It's the unedited
version
of the reel that was shown to the press to promote the movie "Xanadu"
during a convention MCA Records in May 1980. The particularity of
this video is that used the demo versions of ELO
and John Farrar.

was a Japanese illustrator. He made the artwork of the "Out Of The

1978. The artist died of a heart attack in a hospital in Japan on 23
June. He was aged 78. He also worked for Earth, Wind & Fire,
Deep
Purple, Giorgio Moroder... Shusei Nagaoka

displayed in the U.S. record stores. It measures about 3 feet x 2 feet.

is written on the front and the ELO logo is printed on the back.

embroidered on the front of the jacket. These would have been worn by

Starlight are a Chilian ELO
tribute band. They attended the TV show "Talento Chileno" (the
equivalent to "Britain's Got Talent"/"America's Got Talent").

RECORD COLLECTOR - XANADU
The latest edition of the Record
Collector magazine includes an article which lists the 41 most
collectible picture discs. The 10" US promo picture disc of "Xanadu" is
number one. It is believed
that around only 30 of these were manufactured before the idea was
scrapped. The
song "Xanadu"
is played on both sides. Some
copies are sometimes on sale on ebay at an unreasonable price. Very
rare!

CLOCK
Stephanie Lynne is the youngest Jeff Lynne's daughter. She sold a
clock with the ELO logo on ebay.
It has been in her family since the 70's. The sale is not for her
personnal profit. There was a barn fire and some of the horses
that survived were brought to the barn where she works sometimes near
Seattle. She raises money for the medical care.
Stephanie Lynne est la
plus jeune fille de Jeff Lynne. Elle vendait une horloge avec le logo
d'ELO sur ebay.
Elle était dans sa famille depuis les 70's. La vente
n'était
pour son profit personnel. Il y a eu un feu de grange et les chevaux
ayant survécu ont été
ramenés dans la
grange où elle travaille parfois près de Seattle.

Lynne has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
The event took place on 23 April. Tom Petty and Joe Walsh made a
speech. Other participants were Rosanna Arquette,
Olivia Harrison, Dhani Harrison, Craig Fruin, Phil Hatton, Camelia
Kath, Laura Lynne... There was a
party after the ceremony at the Capitol Records Building.

are some pictures taken before the 57th Grammy Awards 2015 .
Notice that the musicians are almost the same as the ones who played
with
Jeff Lynne at the Children In Need Rocks in 2013 and the concert in
Hyde Park
in 2014. There are 2 chairs "Electric Light Orchestra". The 2nd is
for Richard Tandy. They will perform an ELO hits
medley with Ed Sheeran. By the way, I'm not sure that Jeff Lynne will
be happy with
the pictures on the chairs...
